Doomtree, Heiruspecs and Mission of the Metro
Sims, Cecil Otter, Mike Mictlan and Lazerbeak of Doomtree and Heiruspecs with opening band Mission of the Metro.
Doomtree is a record label. Doomtree is a rap crew. Doomtree is a family. Over the past five years Doomtree has become one of the most highly regarded hip-hop collectives in the Midwest, thanks to our innovative recordings, explosive live shows, and tireless work ethic. By combining the blueprint of hip hop with the DIY ethos of punk and a slew of disparate artistic and musical influences, Doomtree has won the favor of a broad range of audiences. We are as likely to find fans at indie rock shows as we are at rap shows or basement dance parties. In the past several years the collective has grown to include the lyrical and production talents of more than a dozen core members. The members of Doomtree come from a wide variety of backgrounds and musical interests, but join together to create some of the most forward-thinking beats and rhymes this side of 1987.
Heiruspecs has been around since 1997 and formed at St. Paul, MN’s Central High School. It was founded by Felix and Sean (Twinkie Jiggles) in the recording class “freestyle room” during one of the many sessions of improvisation that would happen when assignments were done. Over the years, the faces in Heiruspecs have changed as people have gone on to school/had life changes/mental meltdowns/real lives/etc. but the vibe has remained the same. We rep St. Paul and do it with high energy. That’s it.
Mission of the Metro started with Jake not being happy with his TV channel selection and lack of high speed internet. Reed being the super awesome cable installer that he is, stepped in and helped out. While fighting off cobwebs in the darkest corners of the basement he noticed that Jake had drums, a few guitars, and some recording equipment. He told Jake he had some demos he wanted drums on. Jake said he had drums he wanted on demos, and recorded some drums for Reed. An eternity passed with out any contact between the two of them. One day Jake was sitting on his couch enjoying his new TV channels, when there was a knock on the door. Reed had been busy writing, and had material roughed in for an album. They spent the next year recording, and rerecording songs. They finally got an album together, and decided they should get some other musicians and start playing shows. Matt was the first guitarist they interviewed. He didn't seem like a serial killer so he got the job. The group has had about a dozen bass players with no permanent person, so if you happen to know anyone... Anyway, The three of them will blow your minds and melt your faces off with their mind blowing, face melting, rock awesomeness. Check these exciting workshops
